Ursidae
Adult males reach up to about 140 cm, while females are slightly smaller. They are omnivorous, primarily eating grasses and tree fruits but also consuming insects. In summer, they are regularly observed in the alpine zone of Mt. Norikura, feeding on herbaceous plants and fruits. They disperse from their mothers after several years of birth. Males tend to disperse farther away.
