Its Japanese name means “heath with leaves as small as rice grains.”
Distribution: Mt. Daikoku-dake trail, Mt. Maō-dake, Ken-ga-mine, restricted roads, along Skyline
Note: As an evergreen shrub, its leaves can even be observed during the snowmelt season in spring.
